Holy moly

Howdy there, dugshoppers!

I don't know where the time goes.  We've been busy, that's fo' sho'.  We've been working hard transitioning our soapy products to a new venture, which will be called Bubble Genius.  Right now, we're working on getting all the label designs changed, and we've got ourselves a good man setting up the website.  We'll make sure we update you when the website is up and running.

Other than that, we've been working on some bigger orders.  We just finished a great private order for a crew gift for the Iron Man 2 movie, it was a challenge for sure, and not an easy soap to make, but take a gander at the final result:

We're adding to our Life's A Beach line, since so many people love the smell of the beach, and someone asked about a salt scrub.  Well, here it is:

We were so happy that Al Franken finally got seated as the junior Senator from Minnesota, we sent him a little congratulatory basket, so he keeps clean in Washington!  Ha ha, we're here all night, you can throw your tips in the jar.

We've also put together a sudsy tribute to the Big Lebowski, a long time coming, but something we're very proud of!  For all you achievers out there:

The bag that really ties the soap together, a few different shaped soaps: the Dude's Caucasian, bowling ball, bowling pin on a rope, Maude's Viking helmet, Jackie Treehorn's doodle, and two different ways we can get you a toe - one oversized one, or four little ones that are more or less actual size...  In addition, we've also got a Dead Sea mud face pack, in tribute to Walter's compadres in 'Nam, who were left face down in the muck.  And last, but most definitely not least, a 12oz can of Donny's Ashes bath salts.  It was a blast conceiving these products, so we hope you like using them as much as we like making them.  Giff us ze mooooney, Lebowski fans!

Other than that, we've mostly been working on getting the Oct/Nov/Dec holidays in order in our brains, so now it's just down to getting the soaps done!

Hey there soapy soldiers!

Sorry to have been flying under the radar, we've been super busy and super creative of late.  Lots of new stuff and suddenly there are more freaking holidays.  How the H-E-double-hockey-sticks did that happen?

We've got a new name bubbling under in the works, something for this soapy venture that was only supposed to be a part of what dugshop does.  We've been lax in that department, and I don't mean the airport.

And hey, did someone mention holidays?  We've got St Pat's:

We're working on Mother's Day.

But of course, our favorite geek holiday, which starts in less than an hour - Pi Day.  So, we've opened P's House Of Pi, and we've got a fabulous set that will be ON SALE straight through Wednesday.

They each smell like a different fruit or cream pie.  Yum to the 3rd power.

I'm a pretty tolerant person, most of the time, and I do my best to remain level-headed and back away from the swears on this blog.  But having some bizarre right-wing blog talking about our Hope on a Rope soap as some sort of sex toy, and that neo-Nazi site mentioning the soap in a totally abhorrent way...

What kind of sick fucks are you?  Jeeez.  Leave it to those who are every interpretation of the word perverted to say stuff that can shock even me.

Yuck.  I'm going to go take a shower.  With my soap.  Which I am only intending to WASH with.

Tendonitis has kept me from doing much in the way of blogging (or soaping, for that matter), but I sure do miss it.

Hit the lab today for the first time in a while, just to decant the Valentine perfume mixture I've had melding for a while.  It's called "Love You, Mean It" and it smells gorgeous.  Blood orange, pink pepper, vanilla, and a couple of other lush ingredients to make it loving, but not too sappy.

I'm wearing this fragrance right now, and I just want to jump my own bones.

I also put some sweet raspberry Valentine cupcake bath bombs together, but we got a mis-delivery of our cupcake boxes, so I'm waiting for the whole package to be able to put 'em together for selling.

Looks like the right-wingers, as usual, have come a bit late to the party.  Of a sudden, mucho conservative blathering on about our Obama Hope on a Rope soap.  As Bruce Willis said in Die Hard, welcome to the party, pal.  Despite the fact that all y'all are discovering it, ohhhhhhhhh, nine months after its debut (hey, our soap is on the same schedule as Bristol Palin's recently-birthed bun in the oven, zounds!  we swear Levi whatsizbucket had nothing to do with our sudsy progeny), we have been noticed already, and called worse by better, thanks ever so.  Move along, nothing to see here.

Hugely amusing, though, reading the comments of those folks who, of necessity, laugh at their own jokes (someone's got to!).  Yeah, Dope on a Rope.  We already got one of them, it's our current Fearless Leader, and yeah, that soap's been around even longer than our Obama soap. 

I'm starting to think that an Al Franken soap would get their knickers in a twist.  Hmmmmmm.

holy crap redux

So, another mention today, on CNN again, Anderson Cooper's show.  They included us in a little piece about people capitalizing on Obama-mania, and of course we're happy for the mention, but all due respect to CNN, we've always given a third of the profits for this soap to a good cause, first toward Obama's campaign, and after the election, we're giving that third to Habitat for Humanity.

I dunno, I'm just a little burned to be included amongst inauguration ticket scalpers and total mercenaries like that.  Sigh.  Still, at least that little swipe means that Habitat gets mo' money.  And, yeah, us too, but it still doesn't mean that Sarah can give up her day job yet.

Double sigh.

holy crap

Sitting here with Barney Frank's dulcet tones in the background, we're shellshocked still from the double-barreled mitzvah of the Washington Post and CNN yesteday. 

Don't worry; we'll be getting right back to making your Obamas!

Working on the website, trying to update the doggone thing with all kinds of new fun products, the ones mentioned in our Nov 1 blogentry, as well as yet more that we've conceived of and perfected since.  We love our jobs!!  But, of course, website dev has been put on hold for the next week or so, till we catch up on our Hope on a Rope orders.  We still hope to have the extra added goodies up just after Thanksgiving, with more than enough time for your holiday gift-giving!

For right now, we'd better get back to the workshop.  We loves ya!

Sarah and I and four other dedicated souls worked a polling station yesterday, so I'm feeling a little tired and achy today.

I just wanted to say, we love you, Barack.  You're gonna have a tough row to hoe, but we've got your back.

All profits on sales of our Hope on a Rope soap will now go to The Carter Center or any other nonprofit organizations that need attention.

Thanks to all of our customers.  Really.  I'll work out an across-the-board euphoria discount soon, but now I'm going back to sleep for a bit...
