So, okay, really exciting. Not only is our website working very well (thanks for the feedback, those of you who've given us some so far), but it even works on the iPhone! The last version was crashing our friends' iPhones, so we're giving ourselves a big pat on the back for that one.
In other news, we attended an event for David Lynch tonight, promoting his book:
Catching the Big Fish: Meditation, Consciousness, and Creativity
It's a good read, I blazed through it in no time, partly because the chapters are relatively short, but mostly because it's so damned interesting. He mixes his thoughts and feelings on Transcendental Meditation with little nuggets of Lynchian wit and wisdom. I like his fish analogy, so much so that I made a little gift basket for him featuring a bigass fish soap along with some of our regular stock items. Have a look:
and because I'm actually really proud of the fish, here's a close-up:
I worked really hard to get the eye to look like a fish eye, and to give the body that nice fishy iridescence. It's yuzu scented, one of my favorite fragrances, so laboring over it was a joy, both creatively speaking and also because I was immersed in that fresh citrus for a while.
I'm going to look into TM as a way to expand my consciousness, although right now the last thing we need at dugshop is more ideas. We're still trying to keep up with the ideas we already get on a daily basis, but if TM can help with the following through with even a small percentage of those ideas, we'll be ahead. Besides, I'm always in the market for more enlightenment. And more energy. If I can't add another dozen hours to each day, perhaps meditation can help me pack my mental bags more efficiently.
Stay tuned to see if Transcendental Meditation helps this jaded skeptic.
